2017 was a bit of a bust being injured for a solid 5 months. I have been working hard to set myself up for a good 2018 so here is the plan so far. Note, I will only be doing events that support my long-term goals (Kona qualification and Boston Marathon). I learned my lesson in 2017 by caving in to the FOMO…
March 24th The Great Race of Agoura Half Marathon – I had to defer this last year because of an injury. Hoping to run 1:50.
May 27th Mountains To Beach Marathon – I had a very good race here in 2016 and hope to have another one. The goal is 3:39:59 to guarantee entry into Boston.
June 9th Sharkfest Alcatraz swim – 1.5 mile swim in the San Francisco Bay. Brrrr!!!
August 4th Boulder 70.3 – I want to use this as a test to see how well I can race with very little time to acclimate. My 2019 goal is to qualify for the Ironman World Championships. I think one of my best chances is at the full Ironman in Boulder in June 2019 so this race will be preparing for that.
November 18th Ironman Arizona – This will be my third time at this race. I don’t think I will be fast enough to qualify at this race but I am looking forward to setting a PR (shooting for 10:45 or faster) and hopefully making it in the top 10.
December CIM – I had to defer this year due to the injury. Not totally sure I will run it because it is so soon after IM Arizona but maybe!
Other races I want to do…someday
Boston to Big Sur 2019
The Norseman – shoot for the stars right?
Trans Rockies – I need something epic on my calendar
