I did everything I was supposed to. I did my exercises. I rested. I iced. I did all of it. Monday I finally went for my first run to test out the calf. ZERO pain!!! It was amazing. I was about to write a post about how I had 6 weeks to get ready for Boston. I truly felt I could get in enough miles/time to at least enjoy the day an have fun in Boston.
But I wanted to get one more good run under my belt before I declared I was healed. I went out for 4 easy miles again on Wednesday but after 2 miles I felt my calf “pop” and knew that running Boston was not for me this year. Then walking down the stairs last night it popped again. Ugh…
Yes, I am really upset. Yes, I have had Boston dreams since 2011 when I first qualified. But this isn’t the end of the world and I keep reminding myself that the big goal is Ironman Wisconsin in September and there is plenty of time for that! For now I will heal up and come back stronger and faster!
It will take heart and courage but lucky for me I am pretty well endowed in that department!
Side note: We are still going to Boston to cheer our hearts out! When life gives you lemons…
That’s awesome you’re still heading out to cheer! What fun! Glad you’re making lemonade, and don’t forget to put a splash of vodka in it! 🙂
I think we just might have to add a little!
That is awesome
So sorry to hear about your setback but with patience and rehabilitation you will come back stronger for sure. Keep your eye on the bigger picture Becs
